What we collect
Account details. Your name, username, email address and, if you add them, a photo, headline and bio. Your email is stored separately from your public profile and is never shown to other learners.
Learning activity. Which lessons you open, how far through a video you are, which lessons you complete, your quiz answers and scores, your assignment submissions, and the notes and bookmarks you create. This is what makes progress tracking, resume-where-you-left-off and certificates possible.
Things you post. Questions, discussion replies, reviews and direct messages.
Purchases. What you bought, when, how much you paid and which coupon you used. Card details are handled by our payment processor and never reach our servers.
Technical data. Standard server logs, and a record of certain events (such as losing focus during a timed quiz) where a course uses proctoring-style integrity checks.
Why we collect it
To run your account, to deliver the courses you enrol in, to grade your work, to issue verifiable certificates, to process payments and pay instructors, to keep discussions civil, and to detect assessment fraud. We also use aggregate figures — how many people finished a lesson, average scores — to help instructors improve their courses.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your coursework to train machine-learning models.
Who can see what
Other learners see your name, username, photo, headline and anything you post publicly. They never see your email, your grades, your progress or your submissions.
Instructors of a course you are enrolled in see your progress, your submissions and your grades for that course. They see your email address only if they hold the student-management permission for that course.
Administrators can see account and order records, and their actions are written to an audit log.
These boundaries are enforced in the database itself rather than only in the application, so a bug in a page cannot widen them.
Who we share it with
[Placeholder — list each sub-processor and what it receives: hosting and database provider, payment processor, transactional email provider, video host, error monitoring. A data-processing agreement is required with each.]
How long we keep it
Account and learning records are kept while your account is open. When you close your account we remove your profile and your personal data; purchase and payout records are retained where tax law requires it, and issued certificates remain verifiable by serial number so that employers who already hold one can still check it.
[Placeholder — exact retention periods per category.]
Your choices
You can edit or remove most of your data from your account settings: change your profile, replace or delete your photo, change your email, adjust which notifications you receive, and request account closure.
You can also ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Where you are in a jurisdiction that grants additional rights — objection, restriction, portability, or withdrawal of consent — those apply too.
Children
This service is not intended for children under 16. If you believe a child has created an account, tell us and we will remove it.
